Changes to Printers and Copiers

We’re streamlining how printers and copiers are displayed across the district to make things simpler for everyone.

🖨️ What’s changing:
  • The General and Premium sub-folders will be removed. You’ll now see one folder per facility, titled with the campus or location name (e.g., Development Center).
  • Inside the folder, all printers and copiers for that location will be listed together.
  • The terms “general” and “premium” will be removed from printer names.
  • All print jobs will now default to general color.
  • Premium color printer installs will be removed, but...
  • General color printer installs will remain available.
  • Users who need to print in premium color can still do so by selecting:
  • ➡️ Printer Properties > Printing Shortcuts > Premium Color

CEU Credits

With the move from DMA to CEU credit, we wanted to provide information on learning opportunities available from the Digital Learning Team. We understand there is some concern over being able to earn your 6 hours of Technology CEU credit. Rest assured that there will be ample opportunity for you throughout the year.
  • We are offering face-to-face and asynchronous learning opportunities this summer, in our own individual training sessions as well as within some of the curriculum conference days.
  • There are sessions other departments, such as curriculum, are offering that have a combination of content or pedagogy and technology credit.
  • We will be offering multiple asynchronous options this summer with more opportunities becoming available each month during the 2025-26 school year.

We understand it can be difficult locating the specific training you are looking for in Kickup at times. To help with this, we are posting our learning opportunities in the Digital Learning Hub, accessible through ClassLink. There is a button near the top of the home page that will lead you directly to our Professional Learning Page: https://lcisd.instructure.com/courses/127564/pages/professional-learning.
z
This page contains links to additional pages that break down different learning opportunities to help you find what you are looking for, such as Summer Learning, Asynchronous Learning, and steps to take for Out-of-District Learning.
z
The summer and asynchronous learning pages provide a list of the training opportunities we are providing with a short description of the training, the type and amount of credit you will earn, and a direct link to the registration page in Kickup. This should make it easier to find a training beneficial to you. We will be updating these pages throughout the year to show the current and upcoming training opportunities available from our department.

The Digital Learning Hub also has a page for Kickup resources that can guide you with tasks, such as searching for events within Kickup or having to upload an artifact within Kickup to show completion of an assignment that may be required in an asynchronous course: https://lcisd.instructure.com/courses/127564/pages/kickup-resources.

We hope these resources will be helpful as you navigate your learning.

Teaching and Learning: Secondary Social Studies

The departments of Teaching and Learning, Advanced Academics, and Research, Accountability, and Assessment recently met to discuss concerns AP US History and US History Dual Credit teachers raised regarding changes to their course curriculum's scope and sequence. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, changes will be made to the order of the curriculum for all high school AP US History and US History Dual Credit courses in LCISD. These courses must follow the curriculum changes. There will be no changes to the academic USH course.

Curriculum Updates for U.S. History Dual Credit and AP U.S. History – 2025–2026 School Year
Over the past year, the departments of Teaching and Learning and Advanced Academics have collaborated to review the curriculum scope and sequence for AP U.S. History (APUSH) and U.S. History Dual Credit courses.
U.S. History Dual Credit (LCISD):
Beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, the curriculum sequence for U.S. History Dual Credit courses will be adjusted. In consultation with Lone Star College, the binder has been updated to reflect the following change for 2025–2026:
  • HIST 1302 will be taught in the fall semester,
  • HIST 1301 will be taught in the spring semester.
Please note: This change does not impact OnRamps U.S. History courses.

AP U.S. History (APUSH):
In March, Teaching and Learning and Advanced Academics met with campus administrators to discuss adjustments to the APUSH scope and sequence. Following collaborative planning with campus leadership, the Social Studies Department, and Advanced Academics, it has been decided that all high school APUSH courses will adopt a new semester structure starting in 2025–2026:
  • First Semester: Units 6–9
  • Second Semester: Units 1–5
Important Notes:
  • There will be no changes to the academic U.S. History course curriculum.
  • Students enrolled in AP U.S. History and U.S. History Dual Credit will take fall and spring benchmarks.
  • Students enrolled in AP U.S. History and U.S. History Dual Credit will continue to take the U.S. History End-of-Course (EOC) exam during the spring semester, aligned with the 2025–2026 TEA assessment window.

The Social Studies Department will be offering two professional learning opportunities for APUSH and Dual Credit teachers.
  • On May 27th, a full day of professional development that will help teachers with the new curriculum sequence and pacing will be offered.  Please strongly encourage your APUSH and Dual Credit U.S. History teachers to attend. They can use the following link to register in Kickup.
  • At Ignite (August 4th), there will be a session for APUSH and Dual Credit U.S. History teachers that will give a high-level overview of the changes to the curriculum scope and sequence, as well as communicate a support schedule for the year.

Canvas Reminders--Archiving Courses

x

Canvas Course Archiving

On July 10, all Canvas courses, with very few exceptions, will be archived. This will include all Skyward generated courses as well as 2024-2025 manually created courses, such as sandbox, club, library, and master courses. This process has been in place for several years and will continue each year moving forward.

It is important that we archive for several reasons:
  • The active courses area needs to be kept clean for easier management and smoother functionality.
  • We want to keep students and observers from receiving notifications from manually created courses from previous years. Courses from past years often have enrollments that are not updated to remove past users.
  • This provides an opportunity for instructors to review and update all course content.

To learn more about this process, check out this resource from the Canvas Level Up course: Canvas Course Archiving Process.

A small number of courses will not be archived. For a course to not be archived it must meet at least one of the following requirements:
  • It is an active course through the summer and can then be archived.
  • It is a staff development course that is still active and its information current.
  • It is a district curriculum course.
  • It is a district-level course for Staff. Its information and roster are current.
  • It is a campus-level course for Staff. Its information and roster are current.

If you feel a course should not be archived, please discuss with your campus principal or supervisor and, with their approval, complete this form no later than June 12. The course will be evaluated to see if it will be kept active. Fill out the form for each course in question. Any course submitted will be taken into consideration, but please note that completing the form does not guarantee that a course will remain active. You will be notified whether your course will be archived or remain active prior to the process taking place.

NOTE: Before submitting your link, please check the term it is currently in. If it is in a curriculum or staff development term it will not be archived.

LCHS Facilitron Reservation Requests

All questions/concerns regarding Facilitron should be directed to Mr. Wilson.
All facility reservations/requests must go through the appropriate staff member to be entered in Facilitron. Please refer to the chart below to determine who can support with your request.

Requests for space reservations should be made well in advance, ideally at least two weeks before the desired date. This allows for better planning and scheduling.

Each reservation request must clearly state the purpose of the event or activity, including the expected number of participants and any specific requirements (e.g., seating arrangements, equipment, security, etc....).

Be advised that if security is needed, a budget code will be requested for payment purposes.

Each group or individual reserving a space should designate a point of contact for communication. This person will handle any questions or changes related to the reservation.

All groups must adhere to school policies regarding the use of facilities and respecting the scheduled start/end times.

Clear communication helps avoid misunderstandings about space availability, usage guidelines, and event specifics. If issues arise (e.g., double bookings or weather concerns), you are expected to work together to problem solve to ensure our students aren’t negatively impacted.

If it is not in Facilitron, it doesn't happen. You may not utilize any campus space inside or out if it has not been approved in Facilitron. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in Administrative action.

If you have any questions regarding our Facilitron process, please reach out to Mr. Wilson.
