The History of Lamar
Established 1949
Since 1949, Lamar High has developed a long, proud tradition of high standards and strong academic orientation. Its diverse student population brings a multitude of interests and talents together to form a rich background for learning. A warm, open atmosphere provides a setting where all students are encouraged to excel.
Many residents of the local community are Lamar High graduates who strongly support the school, in the classroom, onstage, on the playing field, and in numerous academic and extra-curricular activities. Enthusiastically involved parents participate in band, choir, drill team, athletic booster clubs, a Parent-Teacher Organization and a dynamic volunteer program. Students participate in The Leadership High School, an innovative program based on adult civic leadership programs.
Academic groupings include advanced placement, advanced and academic, with additional courses for special education.
Our greatest contribution is to be sure there is a teacher in every classroom who cares that every student, every day, earns and grows and feels like a real human being.
Lamar CHS Mission
To provide each student with a quality education in a safe, nurturing and learner-centered environment. This educational foundation will enhance the students’ opportunities of becoming productive citizens of our global society.
Alma mater
Hail alma mater
All glory to thy name
Thy colors gray and blue shall ere remain
We pledge our loyalty, friendship, sincerity
Our love will never die
Hail Lamar High!
Fight song
On ye Mustangs, on ye Mustangs
On to victory!
Ever forward, ever onward
We'll get there or die
Fight! Fight! Fight!
On ye Mustangs, on ye Mustangs
On to victory!
fight, Mustangs, fight, fight, fight!
And win this game!
